It’s getting to the end of the summer holidays, the sun is waving its final rays of light and we are all looking for some way to fill the weekends until Christmas! Why not visit Devon Cliffs, Exmouth for the weekend of the 14th and 15th Sept as they have a fun, interactive weekend planned around the ‘Crabstock’ event. If you’ve ever visited the park, they are big on sustainability. Their South Beach Café, stocks locally sourced produce, and the park has an on park ranger who does everything from making wigwams with the kids to making a musical garden out of old caravan parts! ‘Crabstock’ is a festival to show off the great shellfish that the UK has to offer — there will be cooking demos and lots of new things to try — and if that isn’t enough, there will be family beach activities (sand sculpturing, rock pooling etc.), live local bands and demonstations by local air and boat rescue organisations.
This week we are celebrating 23,000 families who are all enjoying holiday home ownership on a Haven park right now! Our Sales Director Tim Gibson said “Our sales have increased by 3% which means we have the largest number of owners we have ever had at this time of year and we still have 10 weeks left of the season”.
Hi, my name is Snoopy and I am a 2 year old pure black Labrador and that’s my mate Milo, he’s part German Shepherd (I’m much more obedient than him and can refrain myself from chasing cats!). Our caravan is at Thorpe Park and it’s only an hour away from home so we always go to sleep and wake up when we hit Grimsby.
When people talk about Haven, people think firstly of caravans. But 23 parks also have touring facilities.
Down at Perran Sands you can camp, take your own caravan or even try one of their ‘glamping’ options (I know you want to read on now!) and it means an easier way to take your pets away with you.
So, we’ve been to the holiday park to have a chat with Mark, their Tent and Touring Manager, to find out more about his job and why Perran is a good choice for your holiday.
Mark has worked at the park in Cornwall for 5 years, 2 ½ of those being in his current role. He has been on camping holidays for most of his life so feels at home around the tents. He started working as a seasonal employee on the grounds team and is now the Tent and Touring Manager with a team of 8 – 4 of which are touring wardens. If you’re camping at Perran Sands, make sure you say hi if you see him!
So, here Mark tells us more about his role…
“My tasks as a touring warden include meeting and greeting guests on arrival, assisting guests, when needed, to put up their tents and patrolling during the daytime for security.
Other general day to day jobs are maintaining our pitches and assisting with any queries or concerns which I deal with as efficiently and timely as I can. My favourite […]
Last month one of our holiday home owners celebrated a very special birthday. Nina Andrews is an owner at Church Farm who not only turned 91 in July, but has also been an owner at Church Farm since 1940 – that makes 2013 her 73rd year on park! The team at Church Farm never need a reason to celebrate, but this was an occasion they couldn’t resist going the extra mile. Nina, or Nana Moon as she is often known, is a well loved member of the Church Farm community and when it was posted on Facebook that she was celebrating her 91st birthday she was inundated with birthday messages. The team printed them all off for her to read through and she now carries them around with her in her handbag! They went to surprise her at her holiday home with a birthday card, a bottle of Bailey’s (which we hear is her favourite) and an Anxious balloon, and she was absolutely thrilled. We wanted to get to know Nana a little better and gave a member of the team at Church Farm the task of interviewing her for us. Julie works at Church Farm as a Park Trainer, as well as other odd jobs like helping with owner events and last week she was helping a black swan that’s being picked on in the lagoon! Her job involves lots of talking to people, which she is very good […]
The Daybreak team came to Primrose Valley with Laura Hamilton (also presenter of Fort Boyard and A Place In The Sun) on July 26th – and what a morning! It was the end of a long week for the ITV crew who had spent the week discovering what is great about holidaying in Britain and they chose Haven to be the grand finale.
They arrived the day before to check out the hot spots on park where they could film and made all the practical plans (like which way the camera would be angled based on where the sun rose) and we decided on the fun and games we would do with our holidaymakers and owners … oh and not forgetting what time to arrange the bacon butties for the crew!
It was an early start getting up at 5am, literally as the day broke, and what a gorgeous day it was too. Our hardworking FunStars had been on stage until 1am but even with only a few hours sleep, they were as bright as ever – encouraging everyone to join in with the activities. The park team set to work setting up the stage for Same Difference Pop Academy and the gunge tanks. By half six around 100 holidaymakers and owners had arrived and willing volunteers were found to be gunged. By 7am there was a run through with all the camera angles and various different activities and by 7.40 […]
