Doggy blogger – part 4

by

Names: Dexter and Winston
Age: 2 (Dexter is almost three)
Breed: Whippets
Park: Marton Mere, Blackpool
Owners: Beverley and Philip

We picked the park because it takes dogs and is only 1 hour away from home. Also, there are lots of lovely walks for them. They love running on the beach behind the sand dunes at St Anne’s or a trip to Stanley Park, which is a short walk from Marton Mere. Philip and I like to listen to the bands there on a Sunday while the boys sunbathe. There are walks around the Mere itself with lots of birds and wildlife to see.

The boys love coming to the caravan and won’t allow us to walk past the owners reception without calling in for a treat from Bernie! All the staff love to see them and make a big fuss of them which Dexter in particular likes. Dexter’s the cheeky one – he likes the ladies and any food given to him whilst Winston is more of a gent!

The Hughes story…why they decided to buy a caravan

by

We love to hear the stories of our long-standing owners so today we’d like you to meet Mavis and John Hughes!

The Hughes have been caravan owners since 1970 at Haven’s Primrose Valley Holiday Park in Filey, Yorkshire. After a visit to the Blue Dolphin Holiday Park (then named Dennis’ Camp) with John’s uncle and aunty in 1969, they went over to see Primrose Valley and decided to buy a caravan there. Back in 1969, there were only enough pitches for the caravans there so the Hughes couldn’t buy one until the end of the season when a spare site could be made!

I asked Mavis what’s changed in the time they’ve been owners at the park and she told me, “now we have electricity! And water in the caravan; it used to be an outside tap but we were lucky – our van was right next to the tap! There were also no inside toilets. It was, essentially, camping!”

Celebrating 44 years of being owners on the park this year, Mavis told me how they used to and still do enjoy the park.

“We didn’t go in the clubhouse when we first had the caravan as the kids were too small. We’d stay on the playground or go on days out. As the kids grew up, we have lovely memories of making friends in the clubhouse – we’d go in big groups at the weekend, as many as 20 of us – and […]

My Haven Holiday, by Emily Barrett

by

Several months ago, 10 year old Emily won a holiday at Haven with her family. She has written a lovely holiday review to share her experiences with you all. Enjoy! “After winning a competition of a trip to Haven, I went all the way to Hafan y Mor near Pwllheli in North Wales with my family! When I arrived I couldn’t believe how enormous it was! We got our caravan key and we drove off to find our caravan.   I had loads of different thoughts as to what the caravan interior would be like. This is me unlocking our caravan for the very first time! When we went in it was really clean and really pretty, we had to get lots of pictures before our family messed it with all of our luggage! On the same day we went down to the beach near Abersoch. It was a really good beach, probably would have been even nicer without the rain that we had! This is me, my dad and my little sister Lucy on the beach.

Do Haven deserve your vote at the British Travel Awards?

by

We’re really excited to be nominated for this years British Travel Awards and even more so as you get the opportunity to vote for Haven.. that is if you think we deserve it!

Companies love being given awards as it makes them look good but what do they mean to us as customers? Personally when booking my own holiday it gives me confidence that I am making the right choice. There are travel awards where the results are influenced by professionals in the travel industry but there are also some awards like the British Travel Awards where it’s the consumer’s vote that counts!

For a number of years now we have  won the Best UK Holiday Park Operator  and the Best Large Camping and Mobile Tour Operator in the BTA Awards and we’re really chuffed to be nominated again.

The BTA awards recognise holiday companies and attractions for the service they offer. These are the largest travel awards where the consumers vote really counts.

If you feel Haven Holidays deserves your vote then now’s your chance to vote for us. We have been nominated in the following categories

Best Camping and Mobile Company – we’ve made lots of improvements to our touring facilities and on every park we have a touring warden to take care of guests whilst they are styaing with us.

Best Family Holiday Company – everyone who works here at Haven understands the importance of a family holiday. Our entertainment and facilities are designed with families […]
