Things to do in Sussex… Brighton!

by

Over the next couple of weeks, we’re going to take you on a tour around the UK, dropping into regions which house our holiday parks but telling you about the cities, the events and the things to do off park which make that area worth a visit! Sit yourself comfortably, grab a cuppa and tune in whilst Madi starts us off with Sussex — enjoy! Around an hour’s drive or train ride from Church Farm and Combe Haven Holiday Parks is the fun and vibrant city of Brighton & Hove. It has a long and fascinating past from a sleepy fishing village, to a seaside resort in the Georgian and Victorian eras to the vibrant and cultural centre it is today. Here are our top Brighton tips of places to go and things to do…  The city is full of quirky independent boutiques — whether you’re looking for clothes, toys, presents, furniture or homeware… explore the narrow streets in the North and South Lanes to find yourself some new, old, vintage or handmade hidden treasures. Some streets we’d recommend heading down are… Sydney Street, Kensington Gardens, Gardner Street, Bond Street and Meeting House Lane. The Brighton Pier (formally known as the Palace Pier) provides some great views of the city and beachfront and there are lots of arcade machines to keep kids busy! Walk down to the seafront and turn right towards Hove to take in the views of the sea, the […]

Our BBC Children in Need Champions

by

Who is it? Nick Moran, General Manager at Littlesea.

What did he do? Climbed Mount Kilimanjaro

How much did he raise? £1000

Why did he do it? It’s something I’ve always wanted to do. Also, I booked it when I’d turned 40 so maybe it was a mid-life thing?

How did he train? I started training in November 2012 when I was at Devon Cliffs (just after I joined Bourne Leisure) and continued with some hill walks around the Purbecks and South West Coastal Path once I joined the team at Littlesea.

Which walk did he do? I joined the Lemosho Route it’s a 7-day trek, 5 up and 2 down.  My fellow trekkers were from all walks of life, all ages and from all over the world. There were 27 of us (inc a Leader and Medic) and over 100 ‘rafikis’ (meaning ‘friend’ – they were the porters/cooks/guides etc).

What was the best part? On a personal note there were three aspects that kept me going on the way up; I had a photo of my daughter, Isabella (who’s 9) in my pocket and kept getting it out when I was feeling a bit low – just looking at her gave me a boost, I had a secret stash of liquorice allsorts which gave me a sugar boost, and I knew I was raising money for a great charity and that I had so many supporters back home.

What was the hardest part? One was coming […]

Our trip to Devon!

by

Isabel, Stuart and River King went on a weekend trip to our Devon holiday park this summer and wanted to tell you guys all about it! With a main focus to find a holiday where they could try sea fishing, they were pleasantly surprised with how much more was on offer at the park. Read more from Isabel below! Recently we went to Haven’s ‘Devon Cliffs’ park.  We wanted to have a low-cost break before our daughter started school the following week. We’ve not been there before and decided that Devon wasn’t too far to travel from Kent for a weekend break. The write-ups and reviews do say that the park is large and quite hilly — they aren’t kidding but that’s not all bad!
