Congratulations to Hafan y Mor who have been awarded the AA Holiday Centre of the Year 2014! This great award means that the park are really good at maintaining the touring pitches, on site facilities and public areas. It means the team are helpful and that the recent improvements to the park — such as the greenery and layout of the park and the addition of a new children’s play area — make the park stand out. This is the first time the park have been presented with this award and they received a score of 87% from AA, with notice given to the fact the park now has wi-fi across both the caravan and touring areas.
Fancy getting creative at home? Why not make a nestbox so you can get up close and personal with the local birds! Below, our Environmental Manager at Devon Cliffs, Brian O Brien, tells you how: Natural nest holes do not come in standard sizes, so use these dimensions only as a guide. Any plank or sheet of about 15 mm thick weatherproof timber is suitable. However, do not use CCA pressure-treated timber, since the leachates may harm birds. Cut each section as per our plan, which you can see below. Dimensions The plan gives measurements for a small and a large box. Use only the first or the second figure throughout. For starlings and great spotted woodpeckers, use the dimensions for the large box; all the others need the small one. The bottom of the entrance hole must be at least 125 mm from the floor. If it’s less, young birds might fall out or a cat might get to them. The inside wall below the entrance hole should be rough to help the young birds to clamber up when it’s time for them to leave.
Haven has been nominated again for a Tommy’s Award for Best Holiday Provider! The awards celebrate ‘individuals and organisations which make a difference to the lives of families all over the UK’ and we are very excited to be nominated so please do vote for us! Do you have tots and toddlers and are wondering what Haven has to offer?
If you’re lucky enough to have a birthday whilst you’re at Haven, make sure you let our FunStars know about it! We love to make a fuss — as Jack Ashford, our blogging friend — will tell you! “On the 11th of October, after school, we left to go to my Nan and Grandad’s caravan at Devon Cliffs for my birthday. Little did I know that it was going to be the best birthday I will ever have! When we arrived at the caravan there was a package on the table with Seaside Squad wrapping paper and when I opened it, it was full of character goodies! Not long after that my mum was saying we had to leave for the club (usually she doesn’t want to go and just wants to stay in the caravan) but I didn’t think anything of it.
Did you know that Haven offer breaks at our seaside holiday parks for groups or events holidays? Whether you are a group of family and friends or a sports club, we can specialize your break to your needs, whilst offering all of the fun of a Haven holiday and beauty of the seaside too! To tell you more about why people choose to holiday as a group with Haven is Richard Anscombe, who visited Perran Sands this year! “We have taken holidays with Haven for about 18 months and this one was the first one we had as a group. We were a mixed group of family and friends (and dogs!), the youngest being 5 years old and the eldest being 63 years old. Perran Sands in Cornwall is a beautiful park and the weather was fabulous. I think the highlight was the fact that we all got on so well together in such close proximity!
