A sustainable haven!

by

Yet again, Brian O’Brien and the fantastic team at Devon Cliffs have been hitting headlines about their fantastic sustainable work for Haven!

This time, Devon Cliffs, alongside Quay West and Presthaven holiday parks, have been awarded a Special Distinction Award from David Bellamy for their over and above work on their parks.

Quay West were rewarded for their woodland walk and Presthaven for their work with the local community to preserve the nearby dune system. And Devon Cliffs…. well we’ll let you read the article from BH&HPA yourselves!

Catch of the day – drop in to Crabstock in Exmouth!

by

It’s getting to the end of the summer holidays, the sun is waving its final rays of light and we are all looking for some way to fill the weekends until Christmas! Why not visit Devon Cliffs, Exmouth for the weekend of the 14th and 15th Sept as they have a fun, interactive weekend planned around the ‘Crabstock’ event. If you’ve ever visited the park, they are big on sustainability. Their South Beach Café, stocks locally sourced produce, and the park has an on park ranger who does everything from making wigwams with the kids to making a musical garden out of old caravan parts! ‘Crabstock’ is a festival to show off the great shellfish that the UK has to offer — there will be cooking demos and lots of new things to try — and if that isn’t enough, there will be family beach activities (sand sculpturing, rock pooling etc.), live local bands and demonstations by local air and boat rescue organisations.

Have you heard about Haven’s eco initiative?

by

You may have seen a bit in The Daily Mirror this weekend about Haven’s continued eco initiatives. With four appointed advisers at HQ, the team have been busy putting their sustainable ideas into action!

At Rockley Park, Dorset, a new solar powered caravan has been set up – it won’t make a difference to the guest experience, but Daniel Coward, a member of the environmental team, says, “We are looking at the generation of around £200-£300 worth of electrical power per annum. Over time this initiative could make a real difference.”
The project works with caravan manufacturers Willerby and the Environmental Energies. It will be monitored and if the caravan’s efficiency is a success, Haven would look to role this out across a wider range of parks and caravans.
This is the latest in all things green at Haven – so keep an eye on the blog for updates with all of our new projects.
Oh, and if you’re planning a holiday to Rockley Park this year, make sure you keep your eye out for the caravan with the special solar panel roof!
