1066 and all that history

As well as the draw of sand and sea, Sussex is a county blessed by stunning coastline and tranquil countryside, with something for everyone. Our Combe Haven park is one of two in the county and is just a short drive from the historic seaside town of Hastings.

Many people across the country will be familiar with Hastings, famous for the battle of 1066 as but it’s a far cry from the days of William the Conqueror as the town now offers visitors a friendlier welcome as well as a three-mile seafront, bursting with arcades, souvenir shops and of course, plenty of fish and chip shops!

For history lovers, Hastings Old Town’s winding streets hide secret shops which could rival The Lanes in Brighton! Tearooms, boutiques and antique emporiums hide down quiet alleyways, while meandering down the streets offer a peaceful reprieve from the excitement of the seafront.

For stunning views across Hastings and also to view the iconic Beachy Head, take the East Lift, a funicular tram that climbs the cliff above the fishing beach. The lift takes its passengers to Hastings Country Park, a beautiful nature reserve situated in High Weald Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. On clear days the view across the sea is breath-taking, and the country park is a great setting for a ramble and a picnic lunch. If you’re treating your furry family members to a holiday too, this is a great dog friendly place for them to frolic and play.

While the closest beach to Combe Haven Holiday Park is Hastings, a little further along the coast is famous Camber Sands. In close proximity to the town of Rye, Camber Sands promises seven miles of unspoilt sand, which is a rarity amongst Sussex’s mostly shingle beaches. Although limited on facilities, this beach is a natural beauty, and perfect for building sandcastles, paddling and playing beach games. For those who are more adventurous, Camber Sands is very popular for Wind Surfing, Kite Surfing and swimming.

For a fun, family day out, Drusillas Zoo Park is just a 35 minute drive away. Dubbed, ‘no ordinary zoo’ the park has hundreds of animals, family friendly rides, a splash park, an adventure maze and much much more!

The fun doesn’t stop back on park though! Our much-loved indoor and outdoor pools are a crowd pleaser and if you’re after a thrill, you can take a ride through the Space Bowl flume. We have activities that the whole family will enjoy like Archery Coaching, Pitch and Putt, a climbing wall and more. Plus, if the weather isn’t playing ball, rain won’t stop play at Combe Haven – among our indoor activities is a Roller Disco, target shooting, and of course our entertainment venue always puts on a show.
