Christmas – everyone’s favourite time of year! With so much festive fun to be had, we’ve brought you 23 of the best events/activities to get you in the Christmas spirit this year.

1.Liverpool Christmas Ice Festival

Skate around Liverpool’s iconic waterfront, enjoy ice cold refreshments in the ice bar, gaze at spectacular ice sculptures and whizz down the huge 45 metre ice slide!

2.Winter Wonderland – London

Hyde Park in London transforms into a magical winter wonderland for the festive season and the best thing about it is it’s free to enter! Soak up the festive atmosphere, enjoy circus performances, London’s largest German-style market, rides, visit Santa’s grotto, watch world-class ice dancing – and of course, have a go on the ice your self!

3.Lapland UK – Ascot

Head down to Lapland in Ascot and help Father Christmas prepare for that special day! The elves need lots of help in the toy shop, looking after the reindeer, making gingerbread men and you can even try the elves favourite sport with them – ice skating. Visit Father and Mother Christmas and receive a special gift for all your hard work! Just send your letter to the North Pole to apply!

4. Festival of Sound and Light – Eden Project, Cornwall

Visit the Eden Project in Cornwall and be amazed by their dazzling display of light, music and colour transforming their winter landscape both indoor and out. Watch the Rainforest come to life, enjoy storytelling, festive craft activities, songs from the choir, ice skating and meet Father Christmas!

5. Frankfurt Christmas Market – Birmingham

As the largest authentic German Christmas market outside of Germany or Austria, if you’re looking for a good Christmas market to go to in the UK this is definitely the one. You will think you are in Germany itself with a selection of traditional German food, drink and gifts. Tempt yourself with a bratwurst sausage or gluhwein weissbeer (wheat beer).

6. Kew Gardens – Surrey  

Stroll along the one mile long magical sparkling path that takes you through the Botanical Gardens at Christmas. With bright lights and colours dancing over water, a scented Fire Garden, laser beams and a fairy-tale avenue of flora that leads you up to the North Pole village you really will feel like you’re in a magical wonderland.

7. Eureka! National Children’s Museum – Halifax

Visit Eureka! Museum for an interactive, multi-sensory seasonal show. Follow Billie’s journey as he discovers snow for the very first time and meets a new friend who helps him discover a whole new world of fun.

8. Cheddar Gorge – Somerset

The Cheddar Gorge shops and cafes open late one evening in December so you can come and buy some unique gifts and enjoy a festive atmosphere. They’ll be a choir, fireworks display, bands, candlelit tours of the caves, pig roasts and the place will be decked out in Christmas tree and lights.

Where better to visit over the festive period than a stunning grand Cathedral with over 2,000 years of history. Stroll along the old-fashioned cobbles up the steep hill that leads to the market and enjoy a variety of stalls and fair ground rides.

12. Snozone Xscape – Milton Keynes or Castleford

13. Santa Underground – National Coal Mining Museum, Wakefield

Dive 140m underground to visit Santa this Christmas. Santa is greeting mini miners in his underground grotto throughout Decemember, and the National Coal Mining Museum also have lots of other Christmas fun including Christmas parties, workshops and fun days.

14. Royal Pavilion Ice Rink – Brighton

Visit the most beautiful ice rink in the South East this Christmas for a stunning, twinkly, romantic atmosphere. Skate under the stars against the stunning backdrop of the Royal Pavilion and the festive lights and trees.

17. Enchanted Christmas – Gloucestershire

18. Newcastle Gateshead Winter Festival

They really have got it all at the Newcastle Gateshead Winter Festival this year. Think fireworks, pantomimes, Elf training, Santa cruise, Narnia, ice-skating, choirs and carols – there’s plenty to keep you entertained!

19. Victorian Christmas – Beaulieu National Motor Museum, New Forest

Experience the magic of Christmas past with a Victorian Christmas at Beaulieu. Visit the life-size gingerbread house and enjoy the smell of spices coming from the kitchen, be enchanted by storytelling, carol singing and enjoy festive Victorian games.

20.Christmas with Santa and Little Red Riding Hood – Forest of Dean

Dress up as Little Red Riding Hood or the Woodcutter and follow the cheeky elves through the woods to see Grandma. Read the story along the way and keep your eye out for anyone hiding in the woods! When you get there say hello to Grandmas friend, Santa and collect your free gift.

21. Christmas at Waddeson – Buckinghamshire

The grand house and grounds at Waddeson are transformed with unique decorations and light displays this Christmas. There are also lots of festive activities to enjoy including, a Christmas fair, trail and gingerbread recreations.

22. Christmas Tree Maze – Edinburgh

Lose yourself in a magical Christmas tree maze in Edinburgh, can you find the Elves’ workshop on your travels? Try and make it to the centre and back out again!

    Where’s your favourite place to visit at Christmas winter wonderland in London always really lovely to take the kids we go every year to see santa go skating and look at the market and have photos taken really one special place for all the family and i never miss take the kids here because lovely to watch the rides and Christmas lights
