BBC Children in Need appeal night and round up

Here at Haven we are proud to support BBC Children in Need! For the last two years we have Pudsey-fied our Hemel HQ into a donation hotline, for the BBC Children in Need Appeal Night, taking calls until 2am in the morning! This year was no different, so I thought it would be great to show you all the great activities and fun we had last Friday and a catch up on what has been going on across the parks.

The first bit of fantastic news I have for you is that so far this year we have raised over £200,000 for BBC Children in Need. This means that over the past 3 years we have raised over £550,000! I would like to thank each and every one of you who have been part of this and helped us to raise so much money for such a brilliant charity.

As you can from the pictures, Hemel HQ became superhero central as we all became our favourite heroes for the day to support this year’s theme of ‘Be A Hero’. Not only that but we had a huge raffle with gifts coming from local businesses and online companies such as Zulily.com. We even had our local MP Mike Penning come to see all our fundraising activities and get involved with our celebratory photo!

As evening came around there was a huge BBQ put on, with around 300 sausages kindly donated by M&S Butchers, to help keep us going all the way to 2am. We had entertainment from Weymouth Bay and Seashore FunStars, live singing and whole selection of fete games! Come 7pm we all took to the phones to take donations until the early hours. As a result of our raffle and fun games we managed to raise over £2,000 towards our grand total!

There has also been a huge effort across all the parks this year, here are just a two of the fundraising stories that we are exceptionally proud of: ( we are exceptionally proud of all our parks and Haven HQ as they have all worked so hard!)

Rockley Park

Over at Rockley, they have had a great time fundraising for BBC Children in Need. They had the very successful RockleyFest ’14 which managed to sell 1,000 tickets in advance and was a brilliant day out for everyone that managed to go. More recently, they held a Halloween Fete with a Pudsey twist that was filmed by the BBC. Overall, they have managed to raise over £4,000! On the Appeal Night, Chris and Debra presented a giant cheque from Rockley Park to BBC Children in Need, do you remember seeing them on TV?

Did you manage to get a glimpse of Rockley Park on tele?

Perran and Riviere Sands

These two parks have combined forces to raise as much as they can for BBC Children in Need this year. Their main fundraising activity has been a 444mile Costal Challenge which has seen everything from skydiving to paddle boarding to help raise money. This has not just involved members of the team but also owners and guests across the two parks, which really shows the close knit community they have created. After all this hard work they have managed to raise over £25,000 which is absolutely tremendous!
