It’s official – Bournemouth’s long, sandy beach has been crowned the best beach in the United Kingdom by TripAdvisor’s annual Traveller’s Choice Awards 2018, ranking above other UK beaches such as Rhossili Bay, Luskentyre and Brighton. The awards were ranked according to the quality and quantity of traveller reviews and ratings over that past year.
The beach’s favoured trait is its seven mile stretch of golden sands, along with its long promenade and its piers. The seafront has two piers- Bournemouth and Boscombe- and often hosts events such as marathons, an annual air festival and Pride’s Bourne Free festival. The panoramic bay is a haven for wake boarders and kite surfing, or for families to walk their dogs along the shore.
Bournemouth Beach was also ranked as one of the best beaches in Europe, coming 5th in the TripAdvisor Travellers Choice Awards in Europe this year. The sandy spot came ahead of beaches in Crete, Sicily and Gran Canaria. In last years awards, one of Britain’s other southern beaches, Weymouth, ranked 1st as the Best Beach in the UK by TripAdvisor. Both beaches are located on the UK’s south coast and are a short drive away from Havens very own Rockley Park.
Rockley Park is one of our four parks located in Dorset, and is right next to the picturesque Ham Common Nature Reserve. The park itself is stationed on Poole Harbour, which is the second largest natural harbour in the world, after Sydney, Australia. With easy access to locations such as Bournemouth, Swanage, Lulworth Cove and Weymouth, Rockley Park is great for exploring and learning more about what the Great British coast has to offer.
However, for the days where you don’t feel like venturing out to explore the sights of Dorset, Rockley Park offers a range of activities too. With our own sailing school, pools and water sports, Nature Rockz and daytime/evening entertainment you would be spoilt for choice!
Our views at Rockley are pretty stunning, and we get some amazing sunsets too. Pop down to Rockley Beach and explore our seashore!
Even though a visit to the beach can be dependant on the weather, there is still lots to explore in Dorset – even when it rains. You can stare in awe at the sharks in Bournemouth Oceanarium, hunt for fossils on the Jurassic Coast, or head to Peppa Pig World.
Dorset has so much to offer, and it’s no wonder Bournemouth Beach has been voted the best beach in the UK- with a long sandy bay and not one, but TWO piers to choose from, there is so much to see and do on the best seaside coast in the UK.
