Focus Week : Berwick, Northumberland.

This week we’re staying up North and visiting our Berwick Park which is in…well, Berwick of course!
Heatherslaw Light Railway:

Who doesn’t love the fresh countryside air blowing through your hair on an open top train. Under 25mins away from your holiday park will find the charming Heatherslaw Light Railway.  Your train will be hauled by one of their two steam locomotives called “Bunty” or “Lady Augusta.” The coaches are all fitted with roofs to keep the rain off and offer a variety of fully enclosed and fully open seating which means you can go in all types of weather. This attraction is steeped in history and definitely deserves a family visit!

St Abb’s Head Nature Reserve:

Get the family back to nature at this glorious nature reserve! This area is renowned for its fantastic views and huge array of wildlife and seabirds. Formed by a series of volanic eruptions this intriguing landscape is famous for its dolphin and puffin sightings along with its crystal clear waters. Breathe in that sea air and go exploring!

 

Eyemouth Maritime Centre:

Only 10minutes from Berwick you will find Eyemouth Maritime Centre. This summer they have a brand new exhibition open to the public all about the life of smugglers in the 19th century, you can discover the past with all manner of displays and relics that give you a taste of what life was like when smugglers used to run the oceans. With a family of 4 going for under £10 this will be an experience to remember.

Eyemouth Treasure Trail

After visiting the Maritime Centre why not make the most this wonderful town by taking on a treasure trail! Your mission, if you choose to accept it, is to discover the secret code that prevents an evil plan devastating the local area. You can download your mission for £6.99 and it takes around 2 hours to complete. This message will self-destruct in 5, 4, 3, 2, 1…

 

Paxton House:

This 18th century country house has been receiving fantastic reviews on TripAdvisor which has resulted in a 2014 Certificate of Excellent! Get the whole family exploring the 80 acres of woodland and riverside surrounding the house. There is something for everyone from slides, swings and zip wire of the adventure playground to the wildlife of the riverbanks. With under 16s going free and only 10minutes from your front door, this is an opportunity to not be missed.
