Focus Week: Blue Dolphin, Yorkshire

Call me biased but Yorkshire is one of the best places in the world – a big statement to make I know! It’s always the same isn’t it, you don’t appreciate where you are from until you move away, so it only seems right that I give you virtual tour of 10th wonder of the world…Yorkshire is famous for it’s rolling hills, puddings and knowing how to make the perfect brew. It also has some pretty impressive coastline and our Blue Dolphin park is perfectly placed between Scarborough and Filey, as well as being set on a clifftop so the panoramic views are second to none.

Aside from the sandy beaches and port town’s, North Yorkshire has some hidden treasure up it’s sleeve. Here’s our top three…

Dalby Forest, Thornton Le Dale

Situated on the southern slopes of the North Yorkshire Moors Dalby Forest is the perfect place to get back to nature. With bike trails, adventure playgrounds, streams to play in and picnic areas, it has the simple pleasures for you and your family. On the other end of spectrum  some famous faces sometimes pay Dalby Forest a visit, including Meatloaf, Paul Weller and James Blunt. Why not have a look at the website and see if anyone if playing a concert while your up this neck of the wood?

Brimham Rocks, Pateley Bridge

These moorland rock formations are make the best playground you could wish for. For miles all you can see if weird and wonderful rocks, displayed in many different shapes, such as ‘The Dancing Bear’, ‘The Eagle’ and ‘The Gorilla’. Test out your climbing skills or crawl ‘The Smartie tube’. (just don’t do my Mum and get yourself stuck!) After all that climbing, place yourself on one of the many balancing flat rocks and enjoy your sarnies while overlooking the beautiful woodlland and heather moorland.

The Forbidden Corner, North Yorkshire

The strangest place in the world. Originally built as a private playground it was opened to the public nearly 25 years after the first tree was planted and now it draws in crowds from up and down the country wanting to enter this weird and wonderful world. Built up of underground labyrinth tunnels, chambers and surprises,  The forbidden Corner will keep the whole family entertained with its mystical stories.  As family you will have to make choices and decisions as you make your way through, avoiding the tricks and marveling at the statues. Are you brave enough to venture down the temple of the underworld?
