Another week, an other park to focus on! This week our lovely Somerset park takes the limelight and why wouldn’t it! With the sea and the country-side both acting as the backdrop, there is beautiful sights to be seen all around.
Doniford Bay gently slopes towards the sea, with a long stretch of shingle beach – perfect for rock-pooling! But what is there to do around the park? Well Somerset has lots to discover so it was a challenge to just pick our top five – let us know what you think!
Wookey Hole Caves and Attractions
No visit to Somerset would be complete without a visit to the legendary home of the Witch of Wookey. With its interesting and mysterious story, you and your family will be talking about this trip for years! School may nearly be over but why not trick the kids in to learning at Wookey Hole Caves!
The North Somerset Butterfly House
If mystery and history aren’t your thing why not flutter on down to The North Somerset Butterfly House? This indoor paradise really makes you feel like you have traveled to the jungle as your host, Pete ‘the bug man’ , shows you some of the world’s most beautiful butterflies and exotic plants.
As Doniford Bay pride themselves on being one of our most dog-friendly parks! With this in mind we stumbled across a wonderful little website called www.doggiepubs.org.uk, which finds dog-friendly pubs aroundthe area you are staying. We found a lovely little pub called Bicknoller Inn which boasts that it is the perfect stop after walks in the Quantocks!
Wimbleball Lake Country Park If you fancy becoming a bit of a action hero on your holiday then Wimble lake Country Park is for you! With there Outdoor + Active Centre is open for tuition in various different watersports including sailing, windsurfing, canoeing and rowing. Or if you want things a little calmer you can try your hand at fishing. Wimbleball is a premier Trout Fishery , with regular tuition days for beginners and improvers.
Doniford Farm Park
On the West Somerset Coast you will find a great free day out at Doniford Farm Park! With a 15th Century farmhouse, you can see how farming was like back int’ day. You can also entertain the little ones with all the animals they can meet including, ponies, donkeys, sheep, alpacas, just to name a few! You can also take some of the Somerset home with you by visiting their fully stocked farm shop.
