Focus week : Haggerston Castle, Northumberland.

This week it’s all about what’s happening in Haggy! I’ve found some Northern beauties that will be sure to entertain… Gyrs International Falconry Centre

I have always wanted to try this but never had the chance so I thoroughly recommend flying away with your family to the Gyrs International Falconry Centre, under a 10min drive from your front door. They offer a huge range of experiences and events from ‘Meet the birds’ to hands on talks and daily flying displays. When you buy a ticket it is for the whole day and you can come and go as you please!

Haggerston Riding Stables

With over 25 years experience providing horse and pony treks in the Northumberland area, you will not find a more knowledgeable and personal riding service around. You could simply go for a meander around your holiday park, maybe you feel like an hour long trek into the countryside or if you are feeling really adventurous take on the two and half hour beach ride which is renowned for its breath taking views. All this family fun is right on your doorstep!

Chain Bridge Honey Farm

This charming honey farm has been growing steadily since the 1970s and now produces around 80 tonnes of honey! Only 20mins from Haggerston Castle the free visitors centre is definitely worth a visit with wall to wall information about honey and all kinds of different facts about the life of bees. The most popular attraction at the Chain Bridge Honey Farm is the mesmerizing bee hive where you can observe the inner working of a hive from behind glass. Keep an eye out for the queen, she is notoriously hard to spot!

Lindisfarne Castle

Once again I cannot help but suggest another glorious historical attraction! Located on the beautiful Holy Island this 16th century castle stands 100ft above the sea and provides views that will take your breath away. Once you have browsed around this historic castle why not take a trip down to the beach to go skimming stones which was voted the 20th best activity in The Mirror’s ‘Top 25 care-free, technology-free pleasures’ whilst on a family day out!

Camping at Haggerston Castle

Take in the fresh air and beautiful surroundings when you go camping in Northumberland. Camping at Haven’s Haggerston Castle is the perfect way to explore the history and culture of the magnificent county. Just a short distance from Northumberland National Park; Alnwick Castle and gardens; the Farne Islands and the Elizabethan Walls; there is plenty to see and explore in the local area.
