This week is all about Reighton Sands on our social channels and this blog was written by the lovely Debs in our Social Media Team. From the soft, sandy beach at Filey to the fun seaside resort of Scarborough, there is something to make the perfect holiday for all. Here are some must sees whilst exploring the breathtaking views of the Yorkshire coastline…

1. Robin Hood’s Bay

The charming fishing village of Robin Hood’s Bay lies 6 miles south of Whitby. With its cobbled walkways and award winning beach, it is perfect for fossil hunting and discovering the plentiful marine life. Lying at the southern end of the bay is Ravenscar visitor centre where you can gather information on the local area, outdoor activities, events and other attractions.

2. Scarborough

Britain’s first seaside resort for over 360 years is still as popular as ever. Historic Scarborough Castle proudly looks down at the award winning beaches which boast soft sand and clean gentle waters. Discover what lurks beneath the waves at the Sealife Centre or take a trip on one of the oldest miniature seaside railways. As well as amusements, galleries, parks, funfair and a bustling town, you may want to try out the historic water chute which is guaranteed to cool you down!

3. The Yorkshire Wolds

If you love walking then you will love the Yorkshire Wolds. Climb gently to the top of the rolling hills, taking in the fresh air and endless views. A definite “I’m the king of the world” moment. As well as walks for the experienced rambler, there are short walks for the family to enjoy as well as cycle trails and some pretty good ice cream! 4. Fish n’ Chips 

Have you wondered what the best fish and chips in Britain tastes like? Now you can find out! Head to Quayside in Whitby as it has fought off strong competition and been officially crowned the best at the National Fish and Chip awards 2014. 5. Scarborough Open Air Theatre

6. Flamingoland

With so much to do, you’ll never want to leave. The theme park has rides for all ages to enjoy, from white knuckle to gentle rides for the little ones. 7. Filey Bird Garden and Animal Park

8. Bempton Cliff Nature Reserve 

Home to over 200,000 seabirds including gannets and puffins, this is an unmissable experience that will mesmerise the whole family. Explore the paths for wildlife and watch the birds visiting the feeding station and return to their nests on the breathtaking Bempton Cliffs. Don’t forget your binoculars and camera!
