We’re very proud to announce that our Clacton-on-Sea holiday park, The Orchards, has won gold at The Green World Awards 2019.
The accreditation, which is part of the world’s premier environment awards, recognises the park’s dedication to the environmental preservation and was presented in Ho Chi Minh City as part of an international initiative to find the greenest companies across the globe.
With nation competing against nation, The Orchards fought off more than 500 entrants, impressing all 12 judges and topping the category criteria for its ongoing initiatives, led by park ranger, Jamie Wicks. Helping to educate both park guests and the wider community on the importance of sustainability through the park’s Nature Rocks programme, Jamie has also recently organised the planting of 450 wild-life trees on park and created a wildlife-friendly area constructed completely out of recycled materials.
Reaching over 100,000 people with his ongoing outreach, Jamie has also worked closely with the Essex Wildlife Trust and the British Hedgehog Preservation society.
Roger Wolens, Founder and CEO of The Green Organisation said: “We are delighted to recognise all of Haven’s hard work and dedication to the environment by presenting them with a Green World Gold Award for leisure and hospitality. The Clacton-on-Sea park and its park ranger, Jamie work tirelessly to build a better understanding of environmental preservation and it should be rewarded.”
Jamie Wicks, park ranger at The Orchards Holiday Park commented: “It doesn’t get much better than winning gold at The Green World Awards. We love supporting the local community and park visitors on their efforts to protect the environment and look forward to continuing this in the future.”
The accreditation adds further validation to the park’s sustainability efforts, having already achieved the International CSR Excellence Award Gold and the International Green Apple Environment Bronze Award earlier in the year.
