Kids survival guide to the summer holidays

Everybody looks forward to the summer holidays, but six weeks is a long time to fill so we’ve come up with some simple things for kids to enjoy on their break from school.

Have a water fight

You’ve got to hope the weather is right for it, but no summer is complete without getting the water pistols and soaking each other in the garden or at the park!

Make a daisy chain

However, if you want a more chilled afternoon then nothing beats sitting on the grass and picking daisies to make a lovely daisy chain to wear around your neck or decorate with.

Build a den

One of our Nature Rockz rangers has the top tips for building a shelter, but you can be as creative as you like in the woods when you’ve got hours to spare!

Give origami a try

If you fancy testing yourself and getting creative at the same time then it’s well worth giving origami a crack. We’ve even got our very own guides to making an origami Rory!

Go on a walk to Catch ‘Em All!

Everybody knows about the Pokemon Go craze which has swept the globe! And it is a great way to get outside, go for a walk, while having fun at the same time. It’s free on the Google Play Store and the App Store.

Have a picnic at the park

Choose all your favourite snacks and head down to the park for a nice picnic with the family or your friends!

Grow your own plants

And of course, it’s so rewarding seeing a seed you planted grow into a full flower so why not get out into the garden? Plus with these great ideas from celebrity gardener David Domoney you can even help your mum and dad out with making your garden look more beautiful.

Have you done any of these so far this summer? Are there any we’ve missed? Let us know in the comment section below!
