It’s coming up to that time of year when the kids are off school again and you’re frantically searching to keep them entertained! Well luckily for you we’ve found some of the best events this October Half Term all around the UK…
Spooky Woodland Trail – Burton Agnes Hall & Garden
Close to: Primrose Valley, Thornwick Bay, Blue Dolphin and Reighton Sands
Saturday 27th October – Sunday 4th November 11am-4pm
It’s probably the spookiest time of the year…and you can get involved in all the eerie goings on by heading to Burton Agnes Hall and setting off on a ‘spooky’ woodland trail. You’ll need to find clues to solve the puzzle, but there might be some haunting surprises along the way!
Blackpool Illuminations
Close to: Marton Mere and Cala Gran
31st August – 4th November, time varies
The Blackpool Illuminations have been running in the northern town for over a century and generally attract more than 3 million visitors every year – and you should definitely be one of them! The display stretches almost six miles with more than 500 scenic designs and features!
Whitby Abbey
Close to: Primrose Valley, Thornwick Bay, Blue Dolphin and Reighton Sands
Thursday 25th October – Wednesday 31st October 6pm-9pm
Now somewhat of a Yorkshire tradition, Whitby Abbey will be bathed in dramatic illuminations again this year. The ruins of the beautiful 7th century gothic building will be light up a dark history this Halloween. Don’t forget your cameras!
Bransby Horses
Close to: Thorpe Park and Golden Sands
Monday 22nd October – Friday 26th October 11am-4pm
A rescue centre which is home to more than 400 horses, ponies, and donkeys, Bransby Horses, in Lincolnshire, should definitely be on your itinerary this October Half Term. As well as meeting some adorable animals, you can also get involved in the seasonal activities with a Halloween Trial, potion making and pumpkin painting.
Folly Farm Adventure Park and Zoo
Close to: Kiln Park and Lydstep Beach
10th February – 4th November 10am-5pm
Folly Farm Adventure Park and Zoo has pretty much everything you could ask for on an October Half Term day out; over 100 species of animals, Europe’s largest undercover vintage fairground and a Pirate Adventure centre! You won’t struggle keeping the little’uns entertained during these school holidays!
Mr Mulligan’s Galactic Adventure Golf
Close to: Rockley Park
10th February – 4th November 10am-5pm

Opening just before half-term, this exciting new adventure golf attraction has not one, not two, but three thrilling courses to take on. Go on a spectacular journey through a comic book, unearthly light experience and apocalyptic crash scene, and if you’re putting arm gets a bit weary you can always stop for a bite to eat in or drink in one of the two bars or the restaurant!
