Every year the glorious Lakeland Leisure Park host a “Party In The Park” to help fundraise for BBC Children in Need. Let’s hand over to Kathryn Arbuckle, the Owners Events Co-ordinator to find out more!
Our “Party In The Park” – Kathryn Arbuckle
Our goal was to make as much money as possible for Haven’s favourite charity, BBC Children in Need! The sun was shining for us and a perfect day was had by our owners and holiday makers. We had live music throughout the day as well as games and competitions. Highlights included our fancy dress, bonniest baby and most glamorous gran competitions. Alongside this we had donkey rides, fairground rides, tombola’s, nail painting, face painting, raffles, lucky dips, guessing games and my personal favourite….”The Human Fruit Machine!” There was a wide array of stalls covering everything from cakes and cards to designer kids clothing. We had a BBQ, a popcorn machine and an ice cream van to keep people going as they played. In fact it was so much fun Ulverston Firemen and their Fire Engine came along to play along with Bay Search and Rescue!
A perfect day was had by all and we couldn’t have done so well without the help and donations by our owners and our team members at Lakeland, I am proud to be a part of such a fantastic community! We managed to raise, in that day alone, an incredible £1538 for BBC Children in Need!
Throughout the year we’ve had a series of raffles for our owners with prizes such a cruise on Lake Windermere, a family pass to South Lakeland Zoo and pass on the Eskdale Steam Railway with everything donated by the local attractions! The Owners kids had Pudsey’s Teddy Bear Picnic next to the Lake at Otter Lodge, we’ve played bingo, had quizzes, run fundays, sold strawberries and cream outside reception as well as host of many other fun things and raised so far this season….£3781!
With just a few months to go we are desperate to reach £5000 for such a worthwhile cause! We can do it Team Lakeland!!
