What do you get if you mix one Funstar, a Lifeguard and favourite seaside spot? The best day out ….ever! The Weymouth way according to Polly….
Last week Me and Madi packed up our bags and headed south to Dorest to discover what’s so wonderful about Weymouth! We were also very privileged to have our very own guided tour by a Weymouth Funstar, Kieran and everyone’s favourite Lifeguard, Polly. Polly had so much of a good time she wanted to let our Haven friends know about it and wanted to share her day with you.
I’ve just come back from my Swim-a-song lesson with Quackers and Kieran (my favourite Funstar – he’s so dreamy) has told me that it’s my job and responsibility to show our friends from Haven HQ why Weymouth is the best – challenge accepted! I’m super excited because I love Weymouth and I know I’m the best person for the job!
Suncream? Check! Water? Check! Kieran? Check! And we are off! It’s was a very, very hot day and as the Lifeguard of Haven I know how important it is to be safe in the sun as well as having fun.
Me, Kieran, Sarah (the lovely lady who looks after all of our Owners at Weymouth) Helen and Madi jumped in the cars and took the five minutes’ drive to Weymouth centre.
We’ve arrived at Lodmoor Country Park and what’s the first thing on the agenda? Sandworld of course! We were very excited because we got to meet Mark who actually owns Sandworld!! He told us all about the history of Sandworld and even how to make the PERFECT sandcastle! Madi and Helen filmed the whole things so look out for some exciting blogs and Youtube videos all about Sandworld and the top tips Mark showed us!
Mark told me that every different year they have a theme – this year it’s books. I loved all the sculptures but I would have to say my favourite one Alice in Wonderland! There was a really rude one as well so I had to close my eyes during that bit…
After we had seen all of the amazing Sand Sculptures, Mark was ever so nice and let us make Sand Art Bottles! Did you know that at some of Haven Parks you can also play with Sand-art?
I would have to recommend everyone in the whole world to visit Sandworld in Dorset – it’s the best! I would also like to thank Mark and his team because they were ever so nice and made us feel like real VIP’s (which of course I am)
And just to prove how popular I am, a family I had breakfast with in morning asked for another photo with me!! Of course I said yes because I love meeting happy Haven families!
Just outside of Sandworld there is the cutest little train you can go on that shows you around the park. So we grabbed some ice-creams and headed on so we could enjoy a ride in sun!
What’s your favourite flavour of Ice-cream? I would probably have to say mine is strawberry!
At first I did want to sit next to Kieran but then I thought how I just wanted some peace and quiet and chose a carriage all to myself!
We were on the train for about 10 minutes and it was super sunny! I also waved at all the kids who were in the park!
We headed back to the car to start our next adventure and also to top up our sun cream! I think it may have been the hottest day…ever!
We then arrived at my favourite place in Weymouth – the beach! There were so many people out and enjoying the sunshine and you can even see one of Mark’s Sand Scupltures along the beach-front!
Kieran said that all of us are off up Weymouth Tower because that’s the best way to see the beautiful views of Weymouth, including the Osmington White Horse. I told him I already knew that and raced him to the queue.
Before we went up the tower, we were asked to sit on bench and pretend to be scared – I think I look terrified! Who do you think is pulling the best face?
I absolutely loved the tower! It’s like a giant glass ball on top of stick and it spins 360’ so you get see everything! Also you can learn some super cool things about Weymouth while you’re at 50m high. I’m not going to tell you them all because I think everyone should go up Weymouth Tower but I will tell you a little fact!
The Osmington White Horse is meant to be of King George III because he loved Weymouth nearly as much as I do, but he wasn’t happy because the horse was facing the wrong way and looked like he was leaving Weymouth. Because of this he said he wouldn’t visit again but I bet he did – how could you keep away??
Polly’s top tip! If you go on Weymouth Sealife’s website you can find a check list of everything to look out for!
It wouldn’t be trip to Weymouth without a trip to Durdle Door! I think it’s got a really funny name but Madi said she’d really, really like to go so we all jumped back in the cars and drove the 20 minutes!
I have got to agree with Madi that it is really pretty there, I just wish we would have brought a picnic – maybe next time! I’m sure Anxious could make us a fantastic feast!
Madi told me that the reason it is called Durdle Door is because the sea has made the rock disappear and now the hole looks a like door! She told me the coast is very, very old – even older than Bradley! She said this coastline is part of the Jurassic Coastline and goes all the way to our friends at Devon Cliffs! I like Madi she’s very clever.
Now it was time to say Good-bye to our Haven HQ friends. They told me they had the best time and I was the best tour guide they’ve ever had – I can’t wait till they come back!
After all this fun I’m very tired and I have to go see all my friends at Weymouth Bay – I know Quackers will have really missed me!
As you can see Polly showed us the best time in Weymouth but what are your top tips? Let us know in the comments below!
