The Future of Caravans: What could be next?

After adventuring through the ABI Concept caravan, which only yesterday won George Clark’s Caravan Challenge, it is time to look at some of the other concepts and clever tricks that may enter the world of caravans in the future! So let’s jump in the Delorean and see what the future holds….

Well, one of the first intriguing designs comes from a Dutch designer called Eduard Bohtlingk who has designed ‘The Awning.’ As you can see below this is a fantastic concept for caravans, as it can add lots of stylish extra space but still keep the design compact.

Well, how about this, imagine if caravan parks weren’t confined to the land and it was in fact possible to take to the seas! Things have moved along a lot since the amphibious caravan filmed on the Thames in 1967, we now have the ‘Thansadet‘. With the ability to move between sea and land this could be the future of holiday homes. Although still a concept, what an excellent concept it is!

Now here is a conceptual holiday home designed by Australian architects Modscape. The holiday home hangs off the side of a cliff to provide breath taking views and according to the designers “creating an absolute connection with the ocean.” Would you be willing to stay in here?

And last but not least there is a wonderful idea called the Romotow. This could indeed be the future of caravans, as there is the option to rotate the caravan so a whole range of different views are possible. This also means that the caravan can fold away, creating the perfect space saving design!
