Fun Activities this May half term!

We know it can be challenging to keep the little ones entertained when they have a week off school, so we’ve had a look around to find some fun activities you can do as a family!

Yorkshire

If your little ones are pony mad, bring them along Pony World in Thornton, Yorkshire over May half term on 29th -30th May. They will love this special event taking place where they can have a go at pony grooming, go on a pony ride and watch a specialist demonstration by Leopald Equestrian – a fantastic team of performing horses and ponies! They can also join in with animal feeding, petting, egg collecting and much more!

Somerset

Keeping the kids entertained doesn’t have to cost anything, brush off the cobwebs and take them for a lovely walk across the Brean Down in Somerset, just a 30 minutes drive from our holiday park Burnham-on-Sea. Wander around the Romano-Celtic temple, then make you way up to the fort to enjoy spectacular views across the British Channel, and don’t forget to look out for the rare white rock rose that can be found in the area!

Blackpool

The kids will love finding their way through all the twists and turns of this 10ft high Singleton Maize Maze in Blackpool, with a dinosaur theme they can follow the clues and get entered into a prize draw!  Then you can finish the day off in the large indoor and outdoor play area, trampolines, pedal go-karts or sports area!

Cornwall

You can spend hours of fun at Kidzworld in Cornwall! They have everything from lasertag, mini golf, a climbing wall, treehouse scramble on the Sky Trail, sand & water play, dodgems and an indoor soft play and climbing frames!

Lake District

If your kids are the adventurous kind they will love Go Ape and Go Ape Juniors for the little ones. They can climb through obstacles and cross over wobbly bridges suspended in the treetops, fly down zip wires and even tackle the tarzan swing! This is all just a 30 minute drive from our Lakeland Holiday Park

Kent

Take the kids for an exciting journey on a steam train through Kent. The Kent and East Sussex Railway was the world’s first light railway; it will take you past some stunning country side views and you can hop off to discover heritage, shopping, food and drink, nature and recreation.

Northumberland

Spend the day at the Farne Islands in Northumberland. Between April-July is the perfect time to visit as you’ll get to experience all sorts of unique wildlife!

Lincolnshire

Cleethorpes Boating Lake is a great day out especially when the weather is nice! You can take a pedalow or rowing boat out onto the lake, have a go at fishing, or relax by the lake and enjoy a nice picnic and feed the ducks! There’s also Cleethorpes Discovery Centre, a sandpit and much more to keep the little ones entertained. It’s just a 3 minute drive or 20 minute walk from from our holiday park Thorpe Park.

Dorset

50 things to do before you 11 3/4’s! Help your kids to explore new activities they haven’t tried before by visiting Kingston Lacy where they can venture round the huge garden and parkland and tick off as many challenges as they can! Just click on the above link to download the map and see what you can find! Kingston Lacy is just a 30 minute drive away from our Rockley Park Holiday Park in Dorset.

North Wales

Do something different this May half term and dive down into the Sygun Copper Mine in Snowdonia National Park. Wander around the mine and discover winding tunnels, large colourful  chambers and look out for traces of gold, silver and precious metals! There’s plenty to do above ground too with metal detecting, panning for gold, bouncy castle and adventure playground

Devon

Ahoy there Matey’s! Have fun at Pirate Week at the World of Country Life this May half term. There will be all sorts of pirate themed activities throughout the week so get dressed up and join in the fun! All the usual activities such as bottle feeding and animal handling will also be taking place!

Essex

Keep little hands busy with pottery painting at Blue Owl in Cholchester. This one is fun for all ages and even babies can get involved by getting their tiny hand and foot prints done! There are all sorts of different ceramics that can be painted from small figures to money boxes and tea pots!

South Wales

Go Air is full of hundreds of interconnected trampolines, trick tracks for tumble practice, dynamic dogeball courts and bounce basketball! Let loose and jump around and see if you can learn new tricks in the parkour sessions! Go Air is great for families as it has times for all ages and designated slots just for mums, dads and tots!

Norfolk

Bewilderwood in Norfolk is a fantastic day out for the family with treehouses, zip wires, story telling, boat trips and much more there is something for everyone!

Scotland

The Bird of Prey Centre in Loch Lomond & the Trossachs National Park in Scotland is a fantastic day out for all the family! You will find birds of all sizes here with over 35 Birds of Prey and Owls you will find everything from the Little Owl to Hawks and Eagles!

Sussex

The Weald and Downland Museum have lots of fun family activities taking place throughout half term week. Enjoy some fresh air in the great outdoors and get involved with hands-on activities and nature trails.

    Thanks for these great ideas for half term, its great that you found activities all over the country as well. I love the idea of parkour as this something I can do with my older children and I am glad that its becoming more popular in the UK.
