The Top 7 Summer Cocktails for 2016

With the sun shining and the weather getting warmer, what better way to spend the day than sitting in the garden sipping on refreshing cocktails? Below, we’ve got the recipes of the Top 7 Summer Cocktails for 2016!

1. Watermelon Mojito: 

What you need: 

  • 2 ounces of white rum
  • 4 ounces of watermelon cut into 1/2 inch cubes
  • 1/2 lime
  • 4 large mint leaves
  • 1 tablespoon of superfine sugar
  • 1/2 cup of ice cubes

What you need to do: 

First, crush the sugar, mint leaves and lime juice into a glass, then add the watermelon and continue to crush. Then all you need to do is pour in the rum, mix it all together, add the ice and garnish with a small watermelon wedge. Then it’s ready to serve! Enjoy!


2. Lemon Grab 

What you need:

  • 5 ounces of lemon simple syrup
  • 75 ounces of fresh lemon juice
  • 1 ounce of gin
  • Sparkling wine

What you need to do: 

This one is simple and quick to make! Shake all the ingredients but the sparkling wine over ice and then strain it into a chilled glass. Then all you need to do is add the sparkling wine, garnish with a lemon twist and enjoy!


3. Champagne Fruit Punch 

What you need: 

  • 1 cup of blueberries
  • 1 cup of raspberries
  • 1 thinly sliced peach
  • 1/4 cup of fresh lemon juice
  • 1/3 cup Simple Syrup
  • 1 bottle of champagne or sparkling white wine

What you need to do:

This one does involve more ingredients but is super easy to make! All you need to do is mix the fruit, lemon juice, and simple syrup together before your guests arrive and leave to sit for one hour to let the flavours infuse together. Then you just need to pour in the champagne or wine just before serving over ice and it’s done! This one is great if you are hosting a garden party as you can prepare it all before guests arrive then serve when needed!


4. Fruity Wine Slushy

What you need:

  • 1 lb frozen peaches
  • 1 lb frozen strawberries
  • 3 cups of pinot grigio
  • 2 fresh strawberries for garnish

What you need to do:

This frozen wine slushy is perfect after a hot day in the sun. Blend together peaches and 1 1/2 cup of pinot grigio until it is smooth – the mixture should be thick but pour-able. Pour the mixture into a container and rinse the blender. Then blend the strawberries and the remaining 1 1/2 cup of pinot grigio until smooth.

5. Passion Fruit Hurricane

What you need: 

  • 1/2 cup of fresh pink grapefuit juice (can use 1 small grapefruit)
  • 1/4 cup of passion fruit puree such as Goya
  • 4 tablespoons of dark rum
  • 1 tablespoon of superfine sugar
  • 1/2 cup of ice cubes
  • Splash seltzer

What you need to do: 

This one is so quick to make you’ll be relaxing in the sun with an ice cold drink in hand in no time! All you need to do is add the ice-cubes, grapefruit juice, passion fruit puree, rum, sugar and seltzer into the pitcher of a blender and blend the mixture on a high until it is smooth and slushy. Then pour the mixture into your glass, garnish with a wedge of pink grapefruit and enjoy.


6. Cucumber Margarita 

What you need: 

  • Salt
  • Ice
  • 1 ounce fresh lime juice
  • 1 ounce simple syrup
  • 2 1/2 ounces Cucumber-Infused Tequila
  • 1 cucumber slice for garnish

What you need to do:

If you didn’t think there was anything more refreshing in Wet the rim of a margarita glass, dip it in salt and leave to stand until dry. Fill both the glass and cocktail shaker with ice, then add the Cucumber-Infused Tequila, simple syrup and lime juice into the cocktail shaker and shake well. Strain the cocktail into the chilled glass and garnish with the slice of cucumber.


7. Non- alcoholic Minted Blueberry Lemonade 

What you need: 

  • 1 cup of fresh blueberries
  • 6 cups of water
  • 1/2 cup of sugar
  • 1/2 cup of  fresh lemon juice
  • 1/4 cup of fresh mint leaves roughly chopped

What you need to do: 

This cocktail is great for those of you who want a non-alcoholic refreshing drink with a unique taste! This one is also quick and easy to make, and you can make it just how you like it. In a large pitcher, muddle the blueberries and mint together. Then you just need to stir in the water, lemon juice, and sugar stirring until the sugar is dissolved. Give the mixture a taste test and stir in additional sugar or lemon according to your preference. Then the drink is ready to be chilled and served over ice. This one is great for the kids too!
