I know what you’re thinking we don’t look a day over 21 (it’s all that fresh air by the seaside!) but we helped our Parent Brand, Bourne Leisure, celebrate half a century of giving people the best British breaks.
Now, let me tell you a little bit about our family. Our parents are the largest privately owned holiday operator in the UK and as well as owning us, Bourne Leisure also own our sister brands, Butlins and Warner Leisure Hotels.
It all started way back in Kent, with a vision of beautiful family parks in coastal settings. This may seem like the norm today but back then it the start of many firsts.
As years went by they bought more holiday parks, always staying close to the seaside. Like us, Bourne Leisure always wanted to keep one step ahead. And they did this by working closely with manufactures and listening to guests. Again more firsts happened. We were the first holiday park to have electricity, fully serviced pitches, piped gases and more recently a Spa and golf courses.
To help celebrate this exciting birthday event we wanted a throw back to the early days of Bourne Leisure – the swinging sixties! Bangles, Beatles and bad dancing all made an appearance. Plus, we were very pleased to receive visits from our friends from Perran Sands, Devon Cliffs, Doniford Bay, and Burnham-on-Sea, to join in on the fun.
And as we’re starting to feel our age a little at fifty, we decided to treat Haven.com to a bit of a face-lift to freshen up the site for when you’re ready to book your next Haven Holiday
All of this took place at Haven HQ and we started the day by remembering how we got to where we are today ( you can read all about our history on our UK Holiday Home’s Sales blog) and this meant cake for breakfast (your only 50 once!).
Inspired by our caravan parks that cake was truly a work of art (see our header!) , made lovingly by Zoe who works in our Web team. With full bellies we headed outside into the sunny courtyard (remember the sun? Where has he gone?) To be entertained by a band that would fit right in with our theme – The UK Ragdolls.
With the shiniest shoes you have ever seen and the sharpest suits they swooned their way through a melody of the best Jersey Boy’s hits.
We then had a bit of a change of pace with the boys from SBX showing some incredible skills and believe me they make it look easier than it is!
We also had our some of our South West coast parks coming to say Hello bringing delicacies from their home towns.
Devon cliffs showed us how the prepare their famous crabs that they serve in their South Beach Cafe while Perran Sands taught art of surfing while on dry land.
Of course the main event of the day was the much anticipated fancy dress competition. With all the Bourne Leisure brands getting involved it meant competition was high but we Blogger Ladies felt quietly confident that our Woodstock Hippy’s may walk away with the prize… until we saw the brilliant effort everyone had gone through as well.
We had The Beatles, Love Gurus, Sixties Chicks and so much flower-power!
