Scotland is a fantastic tourist destination full of ancient history dating back to the Roman times, and stunning scenery including beaches and areas of outstanding natural beauty. With so much on offer and so many areas to visit, Scotland is definitely one to put at the top of your travel list.
No trip to Scotland would be complete without visiting the Capital city – Edinburgh. Edinburgh is just a 30 minute drive away from our holiday park Seton Sands and is full of history with the Old Town being dominated by the Medieval fortress, so we thought we would have a look at what is going on in the area, and the best places to visit!
Top 3 things to do in Edinburgh:
You can’t take a trip to Edinburgh without visiting the famous Edinburgh Castle. Edinburgh Castle is built on a 700 million year old extinct volcano, and there has been a historic castle on this site since the 12th century! Being built on the top of a steep slope, you can enjoy breathtaking views across Edinburgh and the castle grounds.
Holyrood Park and Arthur’s Seat
When the weather is nice, Holyrood Park is the perfect place to spend the day in the sun. Roam around the city park and see if you can tackle the steep hill up to Arthur’s Seat! Arthur’s Seat is the highest point in the park and boasts spectacular views of the park and the city itself including Edinburgh Castle!
The Royal Yacht Britannia
Discover what it was like to live like royalty and step on board the Royal Yacht Britannia, home to Her Majesty The Queen and the Royal Family for over 40 years. This five-star attraction is definitely not one to miss, being voted the No 1 UK attraction in 2014, you’re guaranteed to have a good day out!

Our holiday park Seton Sands is based in the stunning area of East Lothian. If you come to visit us at Seton Sands, be sure to take a trip into the local area. With miles of beautiful coastline and golden beaches, rolling countryside and top attractions you won’t be stuck for things to do!
Tantallon Castle is in a beautiful setting on a cliffs edge, showing spectacular views over the coast and the Bass Rock. Look out for the gannets swooping around and plunging into the North Sea and enjoy the fresh sea air as you take in the history of the castle around you.
National Museum of Flight
If you fancy doing something a bit different with the family then the National Museum of Flight is the perfect day out. Discover the stories behind one of Europe’s best collection of aircraft including Second World War hangers and jumping jets, climb on board Scotland’s Concorde, and see if you can tackle the assault course! The National Museum of Flight has some fantastic events coming up over summer so click this link to find out more about them.
East Links Family Park
East Links Family Park is a fantastic day out for the kids. With so much to choose from they will never get bored! Have fun feeding the animals at the farm, hop on board the train safari, drive your own JCB or tractor, bounce about on the trampolines or see how high you can climb in the haybarn!
