Over at Haven HQ we really are bonkers for conkers and now the gorgeous autumn season has arrived we decided to go head-to-head in a battle of the best conker preparing methods!
Six of us all used different ways of getting our conkers ready for battle ranging from simply keeping it natural to soaking it in vinegar for days.
I kept mine in a dark, cold, but dry space
My technique was to cover my conker in glitter using Pritt Stick, as well as using clear nail polish
Mine was simple – microwave it to dry out the inside
I soaked mine in a bowl full of vinegar – and even covered the shoelace in it too!
Natural is the best way, I just left mine as it was.
I put mine in the oven for 10 minutes and then kept it in a cool place afterwards
I found the smallest conker I could and kept it dry and warm.
For my conker I decided to boil it in salt water
So they are the competitors, but what are the fixtures? Well, here you go…
